The Ebro delta is a remarkable place for its biodiversity. It gave habitat to thousands of seabirds and other species. Today, the area suffers from coastal erosion and flood problems, exacerbated by climate change and uncoordinated river management. That puts habitats and species in great danger. In addition to the effects of climate change, many hydroelectric dams along the river block sediments and hinder them from reaching the delta. The delta needs not only coastal protection. It is necessary to establish management strategies for the whole river. The Ebro is managed by cities, by agriculture and hydroelectric plants, whose priorities are only economic. To find solutions, the different stakeholders have to work together, to agree about a global management and take the entire territory into account.
