In Agon-Containville, a town built on sand dunes and protected by concrete dykes, the Mauna Kea skimboarding club has to contend with different problems. In the 1990s the beaches were perfect for skimboarding but they are no longer suitable today. The various adaptation strategies implemented on the coast have changed the quality of the sand and the morphology of the beaches. These changes not only make the beach impractical for skimboarding, they also make it less attractive to tourists who appreciate fine sandy beaches.
